Thank you to Patty Shipper for joining the Camden Wyoming Rotary Club on Wednesday for a powerful and deeply informative presentation on Alzheimer’s and brain health! 🧠💜
Patty, a Magnolia resident and retired Supply Chain Director, volunteers with the Alzheimer’s Association—a mission deeply personal to her family’s own experience with dementia. Since her first Walk to End Alzheimer’s in 2016, she has been a tireless advocate, now serving as a Community Educator and on the Community Engagement Committee for the Rehoboth Beach Walk.
During her visit, Patty shared some eye-opening statistics and vital information about the Alzheimer's Association's ongoing efforts:
🔹 Over **7 million Americans** are currently living with Alzheimer's.
🔹 Nearly **13 million caregivers** provide unpaid care for their loved ones.
🔹 **Prevention matters:** The **US POINTER Study** highlights that diet, exercise, cognitive stimulation, and heart health significantly reduce cognitive decline.
🔹 Modifiable risk factors like high blood pressure, diabetes, and unhealthy habits are key areas where we can take control of our brain health!
Patty also updated us on important advocacy work, including the *Alzheimer Screening and Prevention Act* and state-level legislation to make early detection accessible to everyone.
Let's continue to support early detection, risk reduction, and the millions of families navigating this journey. Thank you, Patty, for sharing your time, expertise, and passion with our club!
