The Camden Wyoming Rotary Satellite Club at Noble's Pond was honored to host Chad Robinson, Vice President of External Affairs at the Food Bank of Delaware, for an eye-opening presentation today at The Point community clubhouse.

Chad provided a sobering overview of food insecurity challenges across our state. He shared that a staggering one in eight Delawareans, including one in five children, currently struggle with hunger. Last year alone, the Food Bank of Delaware distributed 17.2 million pounds of food, made possible by the dedication of 18,000 volunteer hours!

We learned about the complex factors contributing to this issue, such as escalating living costs, high childcare expenses, and medical bills. Chad detailed the impactful initiatives the Food Bank employs to combat hunger, including their vital Backpack Program for children, the Senior Meal Program, and financial coaching services designed to help individuals and families achieve stability.

He also highlighted ongoing challenges, particularly significant funding cuts like the $1.1 million loss from reductions in the TEFAP program. The Food Bank's collaboration with Feeding America and local organizations is key to maximizing their reach and support within our communities.

A huge thank you to Chad for sharing this vital information. We encourage everyone to learn more and consider supporting their efforts at www.fbd.org.
