Instead of holding their usual gathering, the members of the Camden-Wyoming Satellite at Nobles Pond, true People of Action, chose to dedicate their time to the community by volunteering at the Food Bank in Milford on October 23. This generous act of service provided them with an opportunity to give back, support those in need, and strengthen their bonds through teamwork in a meaningful way. By engaging directly with the local community, the club was able to make a positive impact and experience the gratifying work of helping others first-hand. This commitment exemplifies their role as People of Action, who seek to make a difference not just in discussion, but through tangible acts that uplift everyone involved.

At our Rotary Club meeting on October 29th in Camden, we experienced a wonderful gathering filled with camaraderie and friendship. The highlight of the evening was a Halloween-themed contest that everyone enjoyed. It was a perfect mix of festive fun and Rotary fellowship.

On October 22nd the Camden-Wyoming Rotary Club hosted a fundraiser for members to raise money for the Rotary International PolioPlus Foundation. With a goal of $2,000, members raised over $6,500. District 7630 and the club will each match the funds raised. Bill Gates Foundation will multiply this amount by two bringing the total to approximately $39,000.

Rotarian Alex Vaughan, a polio survivor, and his wife Nancy were our guests. President Anne Mathisen gave a presentation on the history of polio and engaged members to tell their stories of memories of the 1950’s when fear was prevalent of the mysterious polio virus and spoke of the children they knew who contracted the disease.

Rotarian John Nanni sent the club a message of hope to eradicate polio by raising money and awareness of polio still in some parts of the world.

The program that evening to raise this amazing amount included Trivia games, donating when telling a story of hope and success, receiving a “Purple Pinky” reminiscent of the method to track children who received the polio vaccine, Pledge cards provided to make donations, and finally a secret auction with donations from members.

Thank you club members for being the generous Rotarians we all know we are. #ServiceAboveSelf #PeopleofAction #rotarydistrict7630 #EndPolioNow #endpolio #rotaryinternational #rotary

The Camden Wyoming Satellite Club, Noble's Pond, is once again embodying the spirit of "Service Above Self"! At their biweekly meeting, the dedicated team came together in the clubhouse kitchen to prepare an incredible 200 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for People's Place in Dover. In addition, peanut butter, jelly, and bread were donated to the shelter!

This act of service is a wonderful way to support People's Place, a vital organization in Delaware that offers a broad range of programs and supportive services. People's Place focuses on empowering children, families, and adults, helping them on their path to growth and independence.

More about People's Place:
* They offer essential services, including Veterans Outreach, dedicated to serving our nation's heroes.
* They also run Whatcoat Social Services, which provides emergency shelter for homeless men, women, and children, as well as transitional housing.
* Their programs also encompass mental health counseling, emergency housing for domestic violence victims and their children (through the SAFE Program), and services for youth aging out of foster care.

A big thank you to all the members who worked as a team to create these sandwiches, providing a simple but much-needed meal for those being served by People's Place. Your commitment truly makes a difference in the Dover community!
